3 Day Challenges

The challenges

  • This challenge is where participants attempt to climb the three highest mountains in the UK over 3 days, Starting in Scotland then England followed by Wales.
  • The idea behind offering this challenge is to allow people who do not want the cut and thrust of 3 peaks in 24 hours but still what the challenge of walking the 3 peaks in succession but at a more leisurely enjoyable pace
  • The challenge usually takes place over 4 days, collection of the group and travel to the starting point takes place on Thursday then you start your accent of your first peak, Ben Nevis on Friday , then you spend Saturday in the Lake District and the finale is climbing Snowdon in the beautiful Snowdonia National Park on Sunday, some teams will take less time, others more – the fitter your whole group is, the more likely you will be able to succeed in your challenge!
  • You are transported from the base of each mountain by via mini bus by our professionally qualified drivers
  • You usually keep the same driver and guide for the whole trip, which makes for a more enjoyable experience

Quick Info

  • Accommodation – This is usually 2/3/4 star rated friendly hotels on a bed and breakfast basis, they are also within striking distance of your challenge starting point each morning.
  • Collection points – You have the choice, you can choose to join the trip at either Manchester Piccadilly railway station and take the drive from there up to Fort William, or be collected from Glasgow International Airport, were you will be contacted to arrange collection by your driver
  • Timing – Collection can be at Manchester Piccadilly at 10am or 4pm at Glasgow Airport on Thursday, returning to the drop off point of Manchester Piccadilly Sunday evening
  • Group Leaders – Other than our open challenge dates, the majority of our challenge trips are booked by groups, in these cases experience tells use it is more organised if we liaise with one group leader who in turn can cascade any information provided throughout the group.
  • Group sizes – We like our Clients to have a great experience on their trips, so with this in mind we limit our group size per bus to approximately 10 people, smaller groups on the 3peaks in 3 days can be accommodated please give us a call to discuss, we can cater for large groups in which case we would use coaches if required
  • Drivers/Transport/Mountain Guides – our mountain guides and drivers are fully qualified , very experienced within their profession, we take great care to make sure our representatives are of the highest standard.

Typical Itinerary
Thursday

  • Transported to your accommodation in Fort William arriving around 6.30pm
  • Trip/challenge briefing Thursday evening

Friday

  • 7.30am full English breakfast
  • 8.30am start walk on Ben Nevis
  • Usually down the mountain in 6/8 hours
  • Late lunch at your chosen pub or eatery eg The Ben Nevis Inn
    (speak with your driver he will have some good ideas for lunch)
  • Leisurely drive down at your over night hotel in Carlisle
  • Evening meal in your hotel restaurant or at a place of your choice

Saturday

  • 7.00am full English breakfast
  • 1 hour 30min transfer to the Lake District
  • 10am start walk up Scafell Pike
  • Usually down the mountain in 5/6 hours
  • Late lunch at your chosen pub or eatery eg The Swan inn, Pooley Bridge
    (speak with your driver he will have some good ideas for lunch)
  • Leisurely transfer down to your over night hotel In Stockton Heath
  • Evening meal in your hotel restaurant or at a place of your choice

Sunday

  • 7.30am full English breakfast
  • 1 hour 30min transfer to Snowdonia National Park
  • 10am start walk up Snowdon
  • Usually down the mountain in 5/6 hours
  • Late lunch at your chosen pub or eatery eg The Victoria Hotel Llanberis (speak with your driver he will have some good ideas for lunch)
  • Leisurely drive down to your over night hotel In Stockton Heath
  • 3.30 finish. Challenge completed!!
  • Return to Manchester Piccadilly Railway Station or any point along the route

What’s Required

  • To do this trip you need to have a good level of fitness. This is a tough challenge. No previous mountaineering experience is required but you will have to climb the three largest peaks in the UK without the aid of much sleep!
  • We recommend that you follow a fitness plan in preparation for your challenge, an example of one will be sent to you when you have confirmed your booking.
  • A good level of appropriate clothing and equipment will also be required, an example list will be sent following your booking.
  • A good Knowledge of your challenge and what is required from you to successfully complete it with your chosen time frame.
  • A smile and good sense of humour always welcome

Fitness Program

  • The National Three Peaks Challenge should be successfully completed by anyone who has taken the time to prepare their fitness, and gain some experience hill walking.
  • We recommend you consider a fitness program over 16 weeks
  • It should be remembered that practice walks should closely resemble the actual walking to be attempted, but in smaller distances
  • An example fitness program will be sent following your booking, please bear in mind this is just an example and if you are are not sure please seek professional advice.

Costs

  • £549 per person
  • A none refundable deposit of £99 per person is required with completion of your booking form. The remaining balance of £450 is then due 10 weeks prior to your departure.
  • Charity Costs – Pay a registration fee of £99 per person with a minimum fundraising commitment of £600 (usually) for your chosen charity. Complete the registration form and place the name of your selected charity in the highlighted box and we will organise the rest. Please note minimum fundraising is at the discretion of your chosen charity. Please ask for further details.
  • Put Simply if you raise the minimum fundraising amount set by your chosen charity they will cover the majority of the cost of your trip. Generally You will need to have 50% of your groups total fund raising amount deposited with your chosen charity 10 weeks prior to your trip, then they will pay your outstanding group balance.
