The challenges

  • The National 3 Peaks Challenge
  • This is an event in which participants attempt to climb the three highest mountains in the UK, Starting in Scotland then England followed by Wales.
  • The challenge should completed within 24 hours, some teams will take less time, others more – the fitter your whole group is, the more likely you will be able to succeed in your challenge!
  • The participants climb each mountain in succession
  • Then transported from the base of each mountain via mini bus by our professionally qualified drivers

Quick Info

  • Accommodation – This is usually 2/3 star rated friendly hotels within the town of Fort William on a bed and breakfast basis, they are within striking distance of your challenge starting point at the base of Ben Nevis.
  • Collection points – You have the choice, you can choose to join the trip at either Manchester Piccadilly railway station and take the drive from there up to Fort William, or be collected from Glasgow International Airport, were you will be contacted to arrange collection by your driver
  • Timing – Collection can be at Manchester Piccadilly at 10am or 4pm at Glasgow Airport on Friday, returning to the drop off point of Manchester Piccadilly Sunday lunch time
  • Group Leaders – Other than our open challenge dates, the majority of our challenge trips are booked by groups, in these cases experience tells use it is more organised if we liaise with one group leader who in turn can cascade any information provided throughout the group.
  • Group sizes – We like our Clients to have a great experience on their trips, so with this in mind we limit our group size per bus to approximately 10 people, we can cater for large groups in which case we would use coaches if required
  • Drivers/Transport/Mountain Guides – our mountain guides and drivers are fully qualified , very experienced within their profession, we take great care to make sure our representatives are of the highest standard.

Typical Itinerary
Friday

  • Transported to Fort William arriving around 6.30pm
  • Trip/challenge briefing Friday evening

Saturday

  • 6.30am breakfast
  • 7.30am start walk on Ben Nevis
  • Lunch time transfer to Scafell Pike
  • 6.00pm start accent of Scafell Pike
  • 11.30pm transfer to Snowdon

Sunday

  • 3.30am start Snowdon climb
  • 7.30am finish Challenge completed!!
  • Lunch time return to Manchester Piccadilly Railway Station or any point along the route from Snowdon

What’s Required

  • To do this trip you need to have a good level of fitness. This is a tough challenge. No previous mountaineering experience is required but you will have to climb the three largest peaks in the UK without the aid of much sleep!
  • We recommend that you follow a fitness plan in preparation for your challenge, an example of one will be sent to you when you have confirmed your booking.
  • A good level of appropriate clothing and equipment will also be required, an example list will be sent following your booking.
  • A good Knowledge of your challenge and what is required from you to successfully complete it with your chosen time frame.
  • A smile and good sense of humour always welcome

Fitness Program

  • The National Three Peaks Challenge should be successfully completed by anyone who has taken the time to prepare their fitness, and gain some experience hill walking.
  • We recommend you consider a fitness program over 16 weeks
  • It should be remembered that practice walks should closely resemble the actual walking to be attempted, but in smaller distances
  • An example fitness program will be sent following your booking, please bear in mind this is just an example and if you are are not sure please seek professional advice.

Costs

  • £399 per person
  • A none refundable deposit of £99 per person is required with completion of your booking form. The remaining balance of £300 is then due 10 weeks prior to your departure.
  • Charity Costs – Pay a registration fee of £99 per person with a minimum fundraising commitment of £600 (typically) for your chosen charity. Complete the registration form and place the name of your selected charity in the highlighted box and we will sort the rest. Please note minimum fundraising is at the discretion of your chosen charity. Please ask for further details.
